Still not convinced to visit this place?

Here are some of the best things to do in Arguineguín.

We begin our route at Las Marañuelas Beach, a black-sand beach surrounded by bars and restaurants where you can enjoy the best of traditional Canarian cuisine and fresh local produce. Its calm waters are ideal for stand-up paddleboarding (SUP), a water sport that has become increasingly popular in Arguineguín in recent years. The most spectacular view can be enjoyed on clear days, when the imposing Mount Teide (Tenerife) graces the horizon.

If you prefer golden sand, you can find the newly renovated El Perchel Beach less than a kilometre from Las Marañuelas Beach. Next to the beach, you will find a cosy, 400-square-meter natural pool where you can swim alongside small fish and crabs.

Another great option for enjoying a sunny day is Costa Alegre Beach, also known as La Lajilla. It is a natural pool that offers the amenities of an urban beach. Thanks to its stone breakwater, the waters are crystal-clear and calm, making it a safe spot for families with children or for those looking for a relaxing swim.

The port is the quintessential symbol of Arguineguín. With its authentic character and traditional fishing boats, it captures the essence of this village, where local fishermen still head out to sea every day. The Fishermen’s Guild helps preserve the area’s fishing tradition, with fresh local fish available through the local fishing community.

Every Tuesday, the port area hosts the traditional Arguineguín Market, one of the largest and most popular in southern Gran Canaria. At the various stalls, you can find clothing and accessories, handicrafts, fresh fruit and vegetables, flowers and plants, as well as souvenirs and gifts to take home.

Arguineguín is also a great place for a relaxing seaside walk while enjoying views of the Atlantic Ocean. Following its charming promenade, you will reach the captivating beaches of Patalavaca and Anfi del Mar.

As the sun begins to set, you can witness the most beautiful sunset in Gran Canaria. It is the perfect moment to sit on a bench and enjoy the golden horizon with friends and family.

The Arguineguín festivities in honor of the Virgen del Carmen take place every July. The program includes folklore and musical events designed for audiences of all ages. The largest event is the “romería” (pilgrimage procession), which draws over 10,000 people and around twenty decorated carts each year. The most iconic event is the procession of the Virgin; during the celebration, the statue of the Virgin travels through the town’s main streets to the coast, where it is placed on a boat for a maritime procession alongside fishing vessels.
